farmhouse decor with a perfect combo of buffalo check, burlap & metal elements
I’m so excited to share this super cute craft with you today… as it truly is a perect combination of farmhouse style buffalo check, burlap, wood and metal… and the perfect addition to your fall home decor!
As most of my followers know, i love repurposing elements that i have either found at thrift stores, yard sales, or even rescued from my own collection of potential yard sale items. Today, I repurposed item is my wood frame/tray that i typically use as a portable work space area… and can still be used as such after i’m finished using this decor for fall (or after i repurpose it for a christmas holiday themed wall display). The other items that are used in this craft were purchased from hobby lobby and walmart for very little moo-lah.
Disassemble the embroidery hoop and lay the outside hoop down on a flat surface. Then, lay your ribbon across the center and the burlap across the complete hoop.
Place the inner loop on top of the burlap and gently press down until the hoops are once again snug-in-place. Gently pull the burlap and ribbon to tighten and remove any wrinkles.
Step 2:
Tighten the hoop clasp to secure the ribbon and burlap. Flip over the hoops now to see the beginning of your embroidery hoop wreath! Then, add any embellishment(s) that you prefer on top of the ribbon layer. In my project, i chose a metal cut-out “welcome” sign*. (*similar fall-themed metal cut-out words can be found in dollar tree stores for fall 2019)
Step 3:
Make some finishing “fish tail” cuts on both ends of the ribbons for a more “finished” look and proceed with layering your embroidery hoop creation on a wooden display board like mine, a framed chalkboard, or within an empty wall frame. Add a coordinating ribbon holder to the top of the hoop to secorely hang it to the board. I added a dab of hot glue to the back of my board to hold the ribbon in place – so that i can remove and reuse the board later without seeing any leftover hot glue residue. I’m always thinking of how i can reuse and/or repurpose my seasonal decor! It saves money & time… and I’m all for that! Lastly, add two fall floral picks (mine shown are from hobby lobby’s 2019 fall collection) and hot glue them to the bottom of the embroidery hoops (not the display board… remember, we may want to reuse that display board for another project and want to keep it as clean as possible)… and that’s it! All that is left to do now is simply find the perfect place in your home decor to display it! I would recommend on a buffet table as your focal point, on a mantle display, end table, or even in a gallery wall display. If you decide to hang directly on a wall, i would totally recommend using some of the scotch command velcro hangers… as they will allow you to hang and remove the piece without any damage to your walls! Seasonal decor comes and goes… but once you make a nail hole in the wall, it’s there forever!
